Gary Payton: Tough Battle vs. KJ and Suns (1997 Playoffs)

Gary Payton had 28 points, 14 assists in a hard fought OT win against the Suns to tie the first round series up at 2. Detlef Schrempf had a great game as well. Shawn Kemp, despite foul trouble, hauled in a crazy amount of rebounds. Payton led the Seattle offense early with 5 three pointers and 20 points in the first half. He fell out of the offense in the 3rd quarter but reasserted himself when the Sonics big lead began to dwindle. Rex Chapman's three point heave makes this game memorable. Phoenix had all the momentum going into overtime but Payton kept the Seattle offense composed and they eventually ran away from the sporadic Suns. Uploading this on Father's Day as Gary Payton is my Dad's all time favorite player.
