You obtain the ability to parley after the level 15 story quest. This is the NPC in Limsa you can parley with. Parley seems to be a way for crafters to obtain items without having to fight enemies. Currently, it seems to be only partially implemented. As far as I know, there's one NPC in each town that will parley with you. You trade an item, but if you win, you just get the item back. Currently there's no reason to parley.

I hope there's more depth to parley, because it's really easy so far and I don't see much strategy to it. It looks like all you do is try to click tiles that share the same edge, which nets you multiple tiles.

  • It's a game of stratagy that the NPC lacks any coherent concept of... He just seem to be clicking randomly.

You are trying to force two items together... without forcing them together on your turn, that way you can click on them for max points.

it's a simple concept... and tough against someone who knows what they're doing... the NPC doesnt' know what he's doing.

  • @darketernal3 Except the board fills in the remaining slots seemingly at random. So yeah, you can sort of control where some of the pieces go, but you have no idea what new pieces are gonna be put on the board.

We'll see. I'm hoping that grayed out "abilities" button eventually adds something more interesting.

By letting the computer take the 1 category, You are free to take the X category...

Computer gets 2, you get 3.

Yes it fills the remaining randomly, but it pushes them to fill in the gaps and inserts new ones at the bottom, but that's part of the strategy.

  • @darketernal3 Yes, I realize, but if the computer were smart, it would just become a game of who can stall the longest before the other player has to choose an undesirable move. Why would he pick 1 if he could pick some single corner piece or something instead?

  • the game ruined the quests for me. How boring.

Just think of it as an advanced form of tic tac toe. There are a certain of limited number of moves.

Once you figure them all out, the entire game becomes trivial... It will always be a cat's game. It will always end up in a tie.

However, children still play tic tac toe as though it was a game worth playing...

  • Oops... got it reversed.
