Great look at a 1974 Model. You can hear the amazement in the crowd when the car is shown and the doors are raised.

  • did it have automatic door closers or what?

  • It has a push button on the inside and outside for each door. A press of the button would raise and close the door. A lock on the outside to disable the buttons to prevent theft.

  • This was the original DeLorean?

  • No, this was designed and sold before the Delorean was even thought of. A lot of similarities in the cars.

  • Cars today look like cubes, kidney beans, potatoes, and turds. Who the hell actually buys Pontiac Aztecs, Scion xB's, Honda Fit, Smart's, and other ugly cars? The design studios are punking out today's car buyers on purpose. Cars used to be status symbols and attractive. Now, today's cars look ashamed of themselves.

The '70's may have been a controversial decade but, some of the most beautiful cars came from that era.

  • We've gone from making cars that looked fast and beautiful, like the Bricklin, to misshapen boxes like the Nissan Cube, Kia Soul, and the Smart.

It is a marvel of marketing and gullibility that can make Americans get excited over cars that resemble Ladas for the proletariat albeit with slick paint jobs.

  • WoW ,learn something new everyday,i was in 4 th grade, watched lmad but never saw this car,its COOL.

  • Oh wow! A Bricklin! My older sister worked for Malcom Bricklin in the 1970s. It was an interesting car. And today it is prized by collectors. I doubt that any junky 2011 Nissan or Toyota or any other look-alike cookie cutter car of today will be of any interest to collectors 40 years from now.

  • Malcom Bricklin was the original importer of the Subaru - and the Yugo. Interesting fellow, sort of the Mad Man Muntz of the 1970's

  • Saw one just like it at a car cruise in Beaver, PA

  • I saw one of those cars this summer when on vacation in Eastern Canada. I was passing through Moncton, New Brunswick, not far from where they were assembled, and saw it parked in a parking lot downtown. It was orange like this one and a real head turner, too.

  • @canadiantimberwolf1 Not much the first delorean was showed off in 1976 but they did not sell them in till 1981 as you know.

  • @samurphy American company. The Canadians provided tons of incentives for Malcolm Bricklin to build them there.

By the way, the Dodge Challenger is made in Canada, doesn't make it Canadian. The BMW X3 is made in South Carolina, does not make it American.

  • built in canada exclusively for America lol how ironic

  • I'd love to see one of those babys reissued for "The Price is Right".

  • I hope she won it.
