More freestyle responses. To clarify, this IS NOT SPARRING!! We are just working on developing unscripted combos following a random attack. We do tag each other to work the correct distance for good contact, hence the protective gear

  • the attacker should use some feints and kicks and more take downs so you would be totally be ready

  • Thanks, that would be something to develop. This is still an early phase of training, and as we move closer and closer to sparring, that would be what we want to do. Cheers

  • pretty nice videos i was like hmm good for mma then i see the headbuts and the groin attacks i still love it tho. i love wing chun

  • thanks mate! for some reason, i do a lot more nut shots when my partner doesn't wear a cup...maybe it's some unconscious knowledge on my part that it won't do as much....

  • exactly the kind of training I like to see, still controlled and yet free! I love this stuff!

  • verry nice

  • You should try to focus on the basic: Kick with one leg, step down and forward punching.

All the fancy stuff is only if the first doesnt work propperly :)

  • lol you're right about that too! I am renting, so the basement is full of the landlord's crap...

  • yeah, we are hitting each other, maybe about 30-40% power, but the emphasis is on speed and unscripted responses, so hard hits may well happen by accident. Anyway, it also gets people used to getting hit and manhandled, before getting into sparring. I am trying to move away from 'air' drills where usually no or minimal contact is involved.

  • Fair enough, but dont be scared to hit each other. It just seems a little too safe & compliant to actually be considered 'Alive'.

It's good to see that Wing Chun people are trying this sort of thing though.
