The Everly Brothers - Bowling Green - Demo Recorded: MARCH 16, 1967 Producer: Dick Glasser Don Everly: guitar Phil Everly: guitar and vocal Alvin W. "Al" Casey: guitar Jay Lacy: guitar Terry Slater: bass Jack Sargent: drums Glen D. Hardin: keyboards
This was actually a demo done by Phil and Terry Slater in 1967 before Don and Phil did it for the Album The Everly Brothers Sing. You can find the demo on the the compilation CDs with Chained to a Memory box set issued in 2006
There was a disconnect with anything American once the Beatles showed up. Most of them deserved the fate they were acccorded by the Fab Four. However, some still vital acts like the Everlys were unfairly shunted aside as well. There are some terrific Warner Brothers albums Don and Phil did and some real crap. You gotta wade through them.
These two had a vocal magic that we will never hear the likes of ever again. This song has always been one of my favorites by Phil and Don. I remember hearing this song as a kid and it always takes me back to those warm memories of an innocent childhood.

It's amazing that so many felt the Everly Brothers were "over the hill" by 1967.
Yet Don was only 30, Phil was 28.

Nobody could harmonize like The Everly Brothers.I may be wrong but I think this was the last song they recorded together and released in 1967.
Thanks for posting it Rock1945!

This and 'YVES" are the only A sides that Phil sings lead harmony. It was written by his English friend Terry Slater.

Thank you for this video. It is my favourite version of the song. Don is very handsome here but Phil looks so intense and gorgeous. Thanks again.
