This patient's gums have a over reaction to the hormones of pregnancy, resulting in the painful and bleeding enlargement of the gums. The excess tissue was removed and the exposed connected tissue was treated with a "laser bandage" using the soft tissue mode of the Biolase Waterlase MD dental laser without the need for any anesthesia. Simon W. Rosenberg, DMD can rebuild a tooth or your entire smile using a CAD/CAM (Computer Design and Manufacturing) CEREC system with porcelain that looks natura. Restorations can usually be done with NO SHOT, NO PAIN, NO KIDDING using the Biolase Waterlase MD Dental Laser. (No Shot, No Pain, No Kidding is a trademark of Biolase).
Dr Rosenberg specializes in Prosthodontics and Cosmetic Dentistry. This was done without any anesthesia, several times during her pregnancy and it generally does not hurt. Topical (paint-on anesthesia) or a few drops of regular local anesthesia can be put in place to numb the area.

I travel a lot as I am a seafarer and as such my contact with other cultures is more than average. I came across people who had dentistry done while in port in various countries other than here in Canada or the US. Long story short I did it and on top of it all I visited a country I always wanted to visit. Faced with a $23K bill I was willing to take chances - contacted the Canadian embassy and I was hooked up with a dentist who caters to expats.

Caveat emptor-let buyer beware. While overhead/labor costs in countries outside the US & Canada are less, know the training of the dentist, materials used &commitment to sterility & infection control in these scary times of HIV, AIDs, Hepatitis A/B/C and other problems of clean water for the hand pieces, air-water sprayer & patient rinsin cup. Dentistry requires good diagnosis & followup; if you get it abroad always get a detailed record of what was done, what materials were used & x-ray copy.
