Footscray 13.11 (89) (Goals: Duperouzel 3, Bennett 3, Hawkins, Royal, Rod MacPherson, Stephen MacPherson, Neil Cordy, Sewell, Grönewegen) defeted Geelong 10.13 (73) (Goals: Jackson 4, Ablett 2, Mossop, Morgan, Turner, Bright)
This match is most famous for the knee injury to first-year star Geelong centreman Greg Williams, who was to miss the rest of the season then come back to be possibly the best player in the League for many years.

What a 'Pleasant' name that is for an Australian football review show. Australia's number two choice for VFL coverage behind 'Seven's BIG League'.

The ABC used to have a Friday evening preview panel show, Saturday night Grandstand episode which had panel reviews on the game and some replays, the Pleasant Sunday morning replays and the Sunday Night Winners wrap up.
