This is a tutorial for four baton basics. This is for extreme beginners. (You're still calling a baton "a stick" kind of beginner.)

Can you explain how you transition from low figure 8 to high figure 8? When I tried it, my arm had to bend awkwardly and thus slows down the twirling.

@shinjitenousagi When you're done with the low figure 8, you raise the baton with straight arms WITHOUT twirling it and THEN you do a high figure 8. If I understood right, what you're doing is trying to twirl your way BETWEEN the figure 8's. The transition is so fast that it looks like you're moving, but the baton isn't actually doing anything between the figure 8's. Did that make sense? Let me know.

this was very helpful but for the slice, do you hold it with the ball down and the tip up (backwards)?

@atchannelchannel The tips are just a point of reference. Ideally the big tip is down and the ball up, but Sandra here held it the other way. As long as the movement is correct you should be fine, unless there's more than one person twirling, then all tips should be on the same side to look uniform.
