This video features a comparison between Nick's and Tim Lincecum's pitching mechanics. If u notice, for the first 22 seconds of the video, Nick and Lincecum are in sync. But after that Lincecum releases the ball earlier than Nick because his hand comes up before Nick's hand. Credit to laflippin for Tim Lincecum mechanics video. Song used- Broken Dreams by Shaman's Harvest.

The reason your hips open is that your landing foot points toward first base and your body follow your foots direction pause at 0:24 you can see it. You want leg lands, then hips open, then torso open, then the arm whips, finally release. It's a 5 stage rocket.

  • Not only do your hips open to early but your stride length in respects to your front knee angle is off during front foot contact. Not only this but you lose most of your energy from your right leg push because the energy is not transferred through your torso into your arm at release. Front knee extension is crucial for maximum velocity between the arm acceleration phase and ball release after front foot contact.. Other than that looks good. Just wrote my masters thesis on this Good luck :).

  • are you two cousins ha? Those are pretty solid mechanics bud. I did notice your landing foot lands and your hips open at the same time, if there was separation between the two it creates more recoil more stored energy like a rubber band. You do have solid hip shoulder separation. You have good external arm rotation. My favorite pitcher also my mechanics are similar to his as well. chris o leary.com has a breakdown of "The Freak" mechanics. Good Luck.
