Another option from the failed leg weave setup. Notice that I keep good pressure with my knee over his bicep until I release the grip on the sleeve. When moving for the triangle make sure to pull forward with the one sleeve that you have while moving your hips.

The more dynamic and explosive you are with this move the more success you will have. Make sure to rep this move out so that you can be fast without losing your precision.

  • Great setup in the beggining! I`m gonna try that.

  • @UmDiaEuFicoBom

I'm glad you like it, try it out and let me know how it works out for you :D

  • Hey Jeremy it's wild Bill can you use this weaving set ups without a gi and can you throw some new set ups and combos on here that are without the gi

  • @archangelnolan

Unfortunately there is not a lot of spider guard (and it's variations) used in no gi. There are plenty of no gi transitions and combos that I can post but they wont look like or involve anything that really looks like this. Sorry bro :(

  • Question: Why do you initiate with right leg opening up his left arm??? You weave your right knee in, then your left comee over to press down your opponents Rt. arm/elbow (that makes snese to me) but at that point you lose the Rt shin pressure on the left bicep and it appears as though you foot transitions to the hip... So I guess I'm wondering why you don't simply initiate the movement with your Rt foot oon your opp hip??? Does that make sense???

  • @davidwilus

Also, you see that I remove my foot from the hip to push on the knee. This spreads out his base and makes it more difficult for him to posture up and avoid the triangle. I then place my foot back on the hip for two reasons 1. it helps compress his hips down and cuts off some of his hip movement and 2. it gives me something solid to push off of in case I need to bail and start getting some of my own hip movement going. I hope that answers your questions.

  • It makes totally sense to me, actually I have seen some of this combined with spider or the scissor sweep but I have never know how you call this guard.

  • I'm not sure that I understand your question David.

I initiate the whole series from this position by opening up the knee and controlling with one leg inside the arms and the other leg on the outside. There are a lot of different setups that you can use for this series, this is just my preferred method.
