Callas was a genius. It's that simple. Of course no one is perfect, but Callas' art was as close as possible to a perfect marriage between music and drama. Ultimately, I don't think she separated the two. In one of her interviews, she credited Seraphim for teaching her (I am paraphrasing) "if you want to find a gesture, etc., it's all right here (in the music)."

what precious footage! Callas is Opera, she takes it in and fully realizes the incredible emotion behind the lyrics. Oh, to be alive in the 50's!!!

Very moving. She gave us so much! Her art is a treasure and everytime we listen to her or see her, the first thing that comes to our minds is: she is unique. There are many good singers but Callas is really unique.

davvero unica!

or jumping on stage like lunatics try to make everybody notice them... callas could stand still and no-one could take their eyes off her...

She was built for the stage and the drama.

Callas is not an advertising product : she was and remains unique.
Specially in Medea : when we see her (movies or pictures), when we listen to her strange voice, her deep interpretation (live or studio), it gives feeling that Cherubini wrote this splendid score just for Callas.

Nobody will ever perform Meadea this way again. This woman was not human ! Opera singers of today look so ridulucous when they try to act on stage, simply lifting left hand, then right hand !
May be blessed all those who love her, and understand her art and her genious.
