Chicago Marathon 2007 Aid Station Fiasco

At several aid stations, we encountered a severe lack of water and Gatoraid. It's unbelievable that this happened, given the record heat and the fact that the race directors knew of the forecast at...

The thing is that this type of EVENTS charge you about $90 dlls or more per runner!!!

They do not organize them for FREE... they should provide WATER!!

I agree - I ran injured, too but was running for charity and couldn't not compete. Many runners came with their own water supply but ran out early with no aid stations to replenish their bottles at, hence, the numerous people in the video walking off the course searching for hydration in public fountains.

That guy was full of shit and just looking to argue on the internet (along with most of these previous posts). Even elite marathoners take water every 2-4 miles.

Notice that everyone in this video is walking - I know everyone should have a right to participate, but clearly these people are not in shape to complete a marathon; walking at mile 6? It's a tough sport, set your goal as a 10K, or half. I completed the marathon with very little problems.

They were walking because it was 90 degrees, high humidity, and they were looking for water! Many people carried their own water and ran out by that point, with nothing at the aid stations to refill with. I have run for 20 years and was in shape to run a marathon and even I began walking.
