http://www.cinefear.com - Here's another clip from New York Tidbits. This clip was shot later in the day from when we shot the footage from on top of the Twin Towers. This is the classic 42nd St as those of us who knew it then loved it and appreciated it for what it was. For those of you who never saw it in it's prime, than this is a real treat. My friend, who was taller than I was, manned the camera, hence why it looks more frenzied, but it captures the crazed element of what it was like walking the deuce one sunny Fall afternoon. The street was in it's prime, though the plans for it's destruction were already planted. And the growth of home video and cablevision would deliver the final blow to these grand but somewhat run down movie houses. Check out the marquees...lots of movies released during the Summer of '80, like The Nude Bomb, Cheech & Chongs Next Movie, The Octagon. But the best treats are the horror triple feature including The Thing With Two Heads, The Beast Must Die and Scream and Scream Again. These films were just about 8 years old already and still playing the deuce. Plus the porn theaters showing shot on film porn like Teeny Buns...The Martial Arts theater which showed nothing but Kung Fu films...The Superfly Boutique. Cheap eats like Tads Steaks. It was an adult playground and you just couldn't beat it...My friend did the music which fits the scene perfectly...If you'd like to see more of my work, check these out: http://www.cinefear.com/bloodyape.html & http://www.cinefear.com/blitzkrieg.html

  • blecch! this footage is all over the damn place. i'd like to see which movies were playing at what theatres and, by golly, the poster-displays! can you remember where the Big 3 Horror Hits were playing (1:27)?

  • I think it might have been the Harris, but I'm not 100% sure...

  • Who knew that is would look totally different 20-30 years later. Great footage!

  • Thanks to both of you, I'm super glad you enjoyed it, we sure as hell had fun shooting it!

having growing up in south dakota

  • "Prom Night", "Summer Heat", THE HAREM, Flame Steaks...immortalized. I love it!

  • Cool porn music to go with the footage of these old grindhouses, sounds like the score right out of a 70's stag flick. Love it!

  • I really enjoyed visiting New York about ten years ago. It's an awesome city. However, there's still a part of me that wishes I could have seen Times Square in all it's decadent glory!
