@mattandpatti222 the gas thing "off old tires" is explained in another vlog. The gas off tires was a concern of mine too until I watched more vlogs and understood more about earthships. There is also alot of information on the earthship website if you want to research further.

What is it about Youtube comments that turn ordinary people inter pseudo-experts about everything?

Tires only off-gas when exposed to oxygen. Tires stuffed full of earth and encased in plaster (such as those in an earthship) have no opportunity to off-gas.

Awesome! Love the earth ship idea.

I'm a big fan of decreasing your dependence on all the systems that can fail during economic collapse or other disasters. With an earth ship you decrease your dependence on the grocery store, the power grid, municipal water or wells and sewer systems. You produce power and food for yourself so you don't have to work as hard and can save on income tax payments. I imagine governments hate earth ships though. It cuts into their tax revenue stream bigtime.
