On Monday, November 5 2007 there was a fly-over visible from Toronto of the International Space Station and the space shuttle Discovery. Discovery had undocked from the complex less than half an hour earlier, and they were separated by less than 200 metres. Discovery is leading on the left, the ISS dwarfs it on the right. The shortest range to the station on this pass was 846 km. STS-120 delivered a new pressurized cabin for the station and reconfigured its solar arrays, including an epic spacewalk to repair a torn solar wing. Video captured with an Astrovid StellaCam EX camera on a Celestron NexStar 8 GPS telescope with 2x Barlow lens (4000mm telephoto equivalent) tracked with SatelliteTracker software and NexRemote.
West end Toronto. It was a perfect early morning viewing.. The sky was clear and crisp... I watched them come out of the southwest, pass under the moon, they faded off to northeast.. With the sun rise they were the only lights in the sky, except for the moon and venus..
