Tim Cope, on his 10,000km journey to ride by horse from Mongolia to Hungary on the 'Trail of Genghis Khan' travels into the deserts of Western Kazakhstan.

Here on the Emba river Tim helps a nomad family to catch fish in a brackish river and is served up some fermented camel milk as relief from the heat.

The Six-part documentary series for ABC2 Australia airs July 28, 8pm 2010.
