First off, yes this particular attempt was lucky. Specifically, Mtx, our warlock, was chosen as the Val'kyrs target several times in phase 2. When this happens the Val'kyr drops the warlock off and they can teleport back up automatically using their demonic teleport, so you don't have to DPS the Val'kyr to 50%. This gives you more time to kill the boss. However, this is not why we killed The Lich King this attempt. We had many low % wipes, and every single wipe was caused by a death in the Frostmourne room / Wicked Spirits causing a chain reaction which lead to a wipe quickly after. This was our first attempt where we had noone die in any of the Frostmourne phases, so we killed it with a ton of time to spare (had Mtx not teleported back and we DPS'd the Val'kyrs, we still would've been on time, easily, to kill LK this attempt)

There are multiple ways to do this encounter, and this was by far our preferred method. Controlling the vile spirits with people popping them with immunities/cooldowns gave us a lot more time to DPS the boss, even while killing the Raging Spirits (since we have to tank swap fairly regularly for Soul Reaper). Our plague strategy in Phase 1 wasn't working properly this attempt, ideally all of the Shambling Horrors and ghouls are dead shortly after Phase 2 starts, and the Plague Siphon buff has dissipated long before we re-engage LK. On this attempt we weren't able to get things worked out properly so we had the mobs up for much longer, and thus, had to tank for a while with Plague Siphon. Easily survivable, but just an explanation for what was going on there.

To be fair I don't think you would have made the enrage timer if he hadn't gotten picked up even once.

We would have won. We were always fine on the berserk when we had noone die or major mistakes happen. This wasn't a "magical attempt" where being lucky with Val'kyrs made us win. Noone dying to Frostmourne room made us win.

There's a minute of DPS time between casts of Harvest Soul. The Lich King doesn't have an insta-gib mechanic when he's berserking, so you can actually still kite around and such and not die for quite a while.

Had we not been able to ignore some of the Val'kyrs we may have hit the berserk, but we still would have easily killed him since you don't instantly die, and a LOT of damage can be done after the fact. Ignoring a Val'kyr saves you 10-15 seconds of DPS time - but the warlock himself loses a lot of DPS time so it is *slightly *counterbalanced. We had over 20 seconds until the berserk, and longer still until a berserking Lich King would have finally killed the whole raid.

Thanks a bunch for this video. I'm an OT warrior for this fight myself but as a raid we've only made it to right past the first throne room so i was confused to how eating up dmg from those ghosts was going to work. Good music choice (i can't tell u how hard i roll my eyes every time i hear linkin park or like screamo for one of these replays lol) good video quality, and good work on downing h-lk!

i dont understand how that fec or whatever the shaman is called said u cudnt have rng'd it harder tbh. sure u got some bad defiles, but ur valkyr choice was exceptionally lucky, picking the lock saved u ALOT of dps time on the king. i wanna make sure i take nothing away, its a great achievement and great kil, but i disagree with ur shamans statement.
