THE MACHINE GUNNERS EPISODE1 PT1

The story is set during the Second World War and deals with a group of children living in the North East of England in a town called Garmouth regularly suffering from bomb attacks by the German forces. One of the children raids a German aircraft that crashed in the area and takes a fully operational machine gun, intending to set up their own fortress. They fire the gun at a German plane, missing it but forcing it to crash-land; the gang befriend the pilot, not knowing that they had caused him to crash. The book explores the impact on the community of living under war conditions, and probes the deep effects on the children of that community. Their play reflects the terrors, paranoias and anxieties which were part of 1940s Britain.

@agentolshki There was one variant used, wich was armed with 3 Machine guns and was used as an interim bomber. Not sure if they saw usage over britain though.

watching this again, as far as i know no junkers 52s were deployed over britain, they were a three engined transport plane and, i think, unarmed.

Some bright kids got a gun with 2000 rounds of live ammo and that guns no peashooter it will go through a brick wall at a quarter of a mile.

I really liked this book when I was younger .... just found out there was a drama. Would be nice if they'd make a newer one. =P

i was mates with shaun taylor who played chas mcgill,we used to spend a lot of time kicking about together with a few others, went to both middle school and high school with him, after filming this all he ever got at school was " where you going now" was funny for a week or so but the novelty soon wore off, never seen him since we left school, would be interesting to find out what happened to him and what hes up to now tho.
