This is the final video with sound and everything. Everything you see and hear was created by me for this video. All sounds were recorded and mixed by me. All models, animation, lighting, shot layout, concept, and compositing was done by me. The blue bike was modeled by Kyle King. The whole challenge took 45 days, so this video was produced, from start to finish, in 45 days.

  • @mindbendstudios: 3dsmax 9's biped for rigging.

@everyone else: thanks for the comments. this video was completed before the film came out, so i wasnt sure what colors defined good or bad. Think of it as 'my version of tron'. :)

  • great work! just two things. The shot at the :15 mark seems weak. I would extend that shot by panning out from the bikes and revealing the space invaders machine but have the machine move at a different pace as the camera. It just seems to hang there static. Also (which may have been a time render issue) the light trail disappears in the following shot. Show it turning off or something. It becomes a inconsistent element as well as pointless to have the light trail at all. OVERALL, VERY NICE!!

Good comments man! I ran out of time and couldn't finish the lightwalls by the deadline. I wish I could of though. And I agree with your point around 0:15. However, I disagree with the point where the space invader hangs there static - I was using this static pose to help add contrast to the movement of the bike colliding in the next shot. Kind of like a silence before the storm. :) It could work either way in the end.

Thanks for the kind words man!

  • If all the sounds were recorded by you, why do they sound identical to the film? And that scream at the end?

  • Wow man this is just amazing it looks like it could be in the movie or video game! Truly a work of art and something amazing!! keep up the great work!

  • hey, ive been working on something like this too, but i cant seem to get the floor right. could you please tell me how u did yours? thanks:)

  • this is really well done - you've certainly caught the feel. I love the bit with the recognisers stomping the ground - especially @45seconds when you see the rec in the distance prepare to stomp and one in the fg takes him by surprise - I'm working on my own at the moment and hoping it can match up to this work :D

  • Great video!! Thank you for the video content contained with the credits, and nice job on the Recos!! It's quite a perfect blend of the old and new designs!!

  • I like how you added the willhelm scream a the end.

  • From an aspiring animator, you did a fantastic job for one person! What did you use to rig and animate the characters? That's a big problem I am running into ;)

  • @FILMLYFE Yes, it was sweet, but that doesn't mean that it's perfect, or above suggestions.

  • Really cool, but one thing - the yellow program is CLU. Yellow, Red, and Orange programs are usually on the same side and are opposed to the programs with White, Blue, and Green circuits. I was wondering why CLU 2 was dodging Recognizers when the Recognizer Pilots work for him. Just a detail. AWESOME animation.
