Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde is a 1971 British film based on the short story The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson. The film was made by British studio Hammer Film Productions and was their second adaptation of the story after their 1960 film The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll. The film is notable for showing Jekyll transform into a female Hyde; it also incorporates into the plot aspects of the historical Jack the Ripper and Burke and Hare cases.
This was a true classic. I have always felt that Hammer should have made a sequel. Although they killed Jekyll, they could have given him an identical twin brother (Ralph Bates again) on a mission to discover what really happened. He would then find extra notes that were not destroyed in the fire, and from them, embark on the same course as his brother had.
I love all those Hammer movies from that period, but this one is my favourite.
