This minecraft redstone computer is made from 64 small modules, each performing the rules of mathematician John Conway's Game Of Life. The rules for each cell can be simplifided into three simple ruels:

1) If the number of activate neighbours is equal to three, irrespective of the cells' current state, set the cells next output state to on.

2) If the number of active neighbours is equal to two, set the cells' next output state equal to its current state (on if it is currently on, off if it is currently off).

3) If the number of active neighbours is equal to 0,1,4,5,6,7 or 8, irrespective of the cells current state, set the cells' next output state to off.

These cells are joined into a 8x8 cell matrix, and can calculate and hence display some simple patterns, such as the toad as shown in this demonstration.

Each cell prior to the clock being pulsed can be set to either a on or off state by the use of two switches inside each cell, easily acessible, and directly connected to the 1 bit SRAM cell which stores the current state.

One problem with this computer is the fact that the cells must be clocked with a rising edge pulse that lasts exactally 4.5 seconds. Any longer than this can result in the cells behaving eratically due to a race condition being formed, switching on and off and affecting their neighbours.
