The process of painting Countertops. Fast, easy and best of all very LOW cost. Simply ruff / sand the top after its cleaned. Then clean off the dust from sanding. Tape the sides so that you dont get extra paint everywhere. Then use a foam roller and a foam brush. Paint them. ( This will make your house smell REALLY bad for about 2 days) allow to dry for three days. Thats it. Each QT of paint cost $22.00 - $26.00 and I needed 1 1/2 QT so that = purchasing 2. They come in 16 colors, but the store will mix you any color if you agree to the risk, that it may not work.. IT WILL.. Paint ing the counter tops does not look perfect, and is not the answer to all issues, but for the cost its worth it in the right house. Rentals, Flips, or just if your buying time until you can purchase new tops. Again its not by any means the answer to all, but it it worth the $44.00 cost. ( It will "look" painted , but will "Look" better than the old.. Using a sprayer will cause it to look 100% better... Spray them if you can..... Hope this helps.....

Make sure to purchase the spray. Do notp urchase.the one in the qt. or you will have runs. Wair a paint mask. It will take 2-3 small coats to finis

  • Question. Since you done this in Sept 09, how is this holding up with scratches and normal wear. Excluding abuse. Would you do this again?

  • I would never paint it by hand again. I would only use a sprayer. Anywhere it was painted on thick, has chipped off.

  • I painted my countertops with the same stuff (this stuff makes me want to puke lol) and after it dried, I sprayed Rustoleum Stone Accents, then put 3 coats of polyurethane on top of it. It looks pretty damn good :)

  • @Kathya444 Hi Kathy - I am also thinking of doing faux granite using Giani Faux Black Granite. Did you do your project? Did it turn out? Does it last or chip and mark?

  • nice.

  • You did a great job and it looks beautiful! I'm thinking of doing faux granite using various acrylic paints from the craft store to get a realistic look. I've read a lot of tips saying to really make sure you have the counters cleaned well and start with a solid and strong primer.

Also, there are quite a few Marine grade top coats that will give a super shiny and durable finish. I'm nervous but excited to try this. Wish me luck!

I might post a video once I'm done, too.

  • Can u do this to sinks bathroom sinks too ?

  • Does this countertop paint hold up well? Im curious if it scratches off easily??

  • Easy to chip?

  • sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo gay lol

  • how is it holding up, and how long did it take for the "toxic smell" to go away?
