Trace Engelkes of Winnebago wrestling at 152 lbs. can be very pround of his season this year. Not only did he walk away with a record of 36-0, he was able to defeat his finals opponent in the first few seconds on his match by performing a spladle and pinning him. This move was also a record setting pin in the championship round of IHSA. Levi Fortner of Herrin, Trace's finals opponent can also be proud. Though he did not become a champion in is class that night, he did walk away with a record of 37-1.

  • Yeah i was there too and if you read an ihsa rule book you'd know that he initiated the move and can't be pinned during position change. I'd like to see the rest of the match, i call major decision in Engelkes' favor...

  • @JesseCowman Thank you for this one!

  • he is sooo lucky ... i was there and i knew engelkes was pinned when he put fortner in the spladle... fortner you rock get him next time....... P.S. Engelkes did have a very nice ankle pick at the begining of the match !!!!

  • @SCHMELI2277 EXACTLY!!! from 0:07 to 0:10 he pinned himself.im from jc and i wrestled at state this year too.im the only person from my town to go and since our team isnt very good i always find myself rooting for guys on other teams and fortner was one of them,he was so slose.i think he'll win it all next year

  • @jrjc189 Not really.

  • @SCHMELI2277 It's a spladle, a pin, and a win. GAME OVER! haha.

  • okay, if this is a state finals match...it should be wrestled on a single mat for everyone to see. i wrestled in PA and the state finals were the biggest thing to look forward to. if you make the finals, you deserve the opportunity to wrestle alone.

  • @meatyburger yes

  • 0:08... defensive pin or no?

  • @gkcogs spladles dont work on good wrestlers, im not sure what state this is...but this would never happen in mine.

  • @jrjc189 If he doesn't get busted for roids, like he should.

  • @bagowrestler Great job on keeping your shoulders up. As an official, i know when someone pins themselves. A lot of people say you pinned yourself, but you didnt. Great spladle, and congratulations

  • Well it's a good thing my shoulders weren't on the mat for more than 2 seconds the assistant ref did a good job and warned the heAd ref that I was pinning myself and I pulled my shoulders off. I have a state title what's done is done I earned it and we could sit around and say could of and should of all day but this isn't xbox so the redraft button is far fetched. Best of luck to Fortner I hope you can grab a title this year. I have faith in you ...at 152

  • he got his ass kicked!!!!!!!!!!

  • There were two pins in this match:

    1) Pinned himself

    2) Then he pinned his opponent

The match results should read: "Engelkes p. Engelkes 0:32"

  • He was pinning himself...
