Since becoming a vaudeville team in 1922, George Burns and Gracie Allen have made audiences laugh in movies, radio and

television. The real-life married couple established their personalities in radio with "The Burns and Allen Show" and brought

their comedy to television in 1950. For nine years on CBS, every show opened with Burns, puffing his trademark cigar, regaling

the audience with stories of their vaudeville days... and the latest antics of his beloved wife, Gracie. Often entangled with their

neighbors the Morton's, Gracie's zany wit was always the cause (and solution) to their misadventures of domestic bliss.

George Burns, born Nathan Birnbaum, January 20, 1896, passed away, March 9, 1996 (age 100)
Gracie Allen, born Grace Ethel Cecile Rosalie Allen, July 26, 1895, passed away, August 27, 1964 (age 69)

Tonight's Story "Surprise Birthday Party"
Gracie plans a surprise birthday party for George. The plan is that he is to invite all his friends to the Mocambo nightclub for a

party but they are to decline his invitation, leaving him to think that nobody has remembered his birthday. However, Gracie

being Gracie, things go awry quickly.

  • It is almost painful to see the way America has devolved....The Erwins were indicative of the gentle mannerisms of the day. Sweet share, TellyComedyAndDrama

  • Odd. Today, If this scenario were played out the same way, NWO "police" stormtroopers would have attacked the house by breaking down the front door, lobbed in tear gas canisters, shot the dog dead, beat & cuffed the family, ransacked the place, stole any guns & arrest everyone in sight. The child would be taken away by the DFPS &, to add insult to injury, the parents would go to trial for domestic terrorism & charged a huge fee for the police action that "helped" them.

    Ya gotta love fascism!
