Scottsville, Virginia, the original county seat of Albemarle County, celebrates Independence Day with an annual parade and fireworks display organized by the Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department.

The 2012 parade featured a wide variety of units, including various emergency vehicles, politicians (Congressman Robert Hurt, state Senator Mark Obenshain, Delegate Rob Bell, County Supervisor Chris Dumler, congressional candidate John Douglass, and others), beauty queens, local businesses, and Girl Scouts.
