I thought it was time to bring back one of my old favorites in much better quality. They say an artist can never make the exact replica of his work ...and that's true for videos. Still, I stay true to the original with a better sense of editing and a few little new things added. Hope you enjoy it. :)

**Please Read for the back story:-)**
Phineas and Jeffrey must correct history by making sure the brilliant and kind deaf teacher Alexander Graham Bell invents the Telephone. However, Jeff and Bogg's plan goes astray when Phineas falls in love with Mabel Hubbard. She is the sweet deaf woman that Bell must eventually marry. Now Phineas must decide, stay a Voyager and fix the red light or follow his heart and change history completely.
This great song 'This never happened before' is by Paul McCartney

  • MsMulford, you were so lucky to work with Jon - glad to hear that he was as lovely on the inside as well as the outside :-)) You did a great job on the episode and it really stood out as one of the more emotional episodes of the series !

I also agree that Voyagersguidebook has done us a favor by compiling all these wonderful videos of JEH - it would be sad if we didn't have any mementos of a career that had so much possiblity...

  • Thanks so much for the comment and support of my videos. :)

  • Thanks to you both for your kind words. The cake scene was fun and messy. I'm pretty sure we only had to do the food fight once. They probably had back up matching costumes for more takes, but if my memory was correct they caught it all first time.

  • Thanks so much for responding! It sure looked like fun. I often wondered if any of it was improvised? I particularly love it when after you smash him with a piece chocolate cake, Jon laughs and pics up an entire cake and points at it and makes chase. It was a brilliant scene. So cute. :D I would imagine capturing it in one take would make it feel less rehearsed and more spontaneous. G

  • Hi, I'm Lou Mulford and I just discovered this sweet video of my work with Jon Erik back in the 80's. You've done a beautiful and very professional job of editing and capturing what I hoped my character would portray. We actors are storytellers and it's always heartening to be appreciated for how we touch others. Jon Erik was a lovely young man. Very serious about his acting and career. We remained casual friends after the shoot and I well remember the sadness of his passing. Thank you!

  • I am so honored you found and liked this video! I agree very much with you about actors being a story tellers. I enjoy using clips and telling stories myself. Thank you for this lovely comment. I do have a question, what was it like to film that hilarious 'cake scene! ? ;D

  • That's so great! I also love the ending with the green light (is that new or was it in the first vid too?). That vid reminds me of how much I love this episode. Thank you for sending me this!!

  • I only watched a few episodes of this show, but liked this one a lot. I felt sad though cause he told mabel that he did not want to see her anymore even though he really loved her, but she did not know....

  • all scripted. No improv. But I'm glad it looked that way to you.

  • MsMulford, your character was portrayed exactly the way you wanted her to be, and to this day Barriers of Sound continues to be my favorite episode. There was so much heart in the story, it was palatable. It appears that you and Jon-Erik had a great rapport, it shows in your work. Thanks so much for posting a comment here. Ginger does fantastic work with her videos, she has an incredible way of keeping Jon-Erik's memory alive!

  • I wanted this video to tell a story and adding the intro and outro just made it that way. :) Ohh..4:03 is one of my favorite parts too, it really matches those lyrics and him looking at the omni making that final decision. The original didn't have those quick changes so I wanted to do something different and also give Bell a little bit more with his voiceovers. 4-seconds-Green light! YAY! That's the way it should be! :D
