Over a 4-day stretch in September, Hope's young people were given the chance to experience first hand the challenges, exhiliration and teamwork of sailing on a real working ship around Falmouth, organised through Forest Youth Sailing.
Generously subsidised by The Knock On Effect, the teens glued together during the voyage and, under the direction of professional sailing instructors, learned the skills required to keep afloat and handle responsibilities on a ship.
Ship-logger Ben described the trip as a "fantastic sailing adventure", and reported that "we got to climb up the rigging and go out onto the bowsprit. We were a bit nervous, but everyone had a go, even SammyJay!"
We're looking forward to next year already!
