Frontal Impact takes place at 64 Km/h, 40% of the width of the car striking a deformable barrier. In the side impact, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door at 50 km/h. In the pole test, the car tested is propelled sideways at 29km/h into a rigid pole.

  • @JENSDONT i agree. it doesn't look like a car made in 1998, it looks even better than a Fiesta from 2006 or so. bad thing that i crashed my one...

  • @JENSDONT You can still buy them (not new of course) . I just bought a ten year old Golf MK IV GTI 25th anniversary edition in a very good condition. Runs like a charm.

  • @rxs2011 I've just found the answer. There were side airbags in this test car from 1998. Check the link in the description.

    "Side impact: The seat-mounted side airbag provided padding for the driver's chest and abdomen. Protection for his chest and abdomen was adequate and for his pelvis, good. His head lightly struck the central door pillar and seat belt loop. The door pillar trim cover contained energy-absorbing padding which should help to protect the head if the contact was more severe."

  • @oe98b07 originally, no. they were made standard a couple years later.

  • The VW Golf 4 does actually have side airbags placed in the front seats. They did not pop out, did they?
