@TMANZ369 This scene (Dmitri) Onegin is telling (Renee) Tatiana that he can only love her as a brother would, nothing more. This, of course, is after the famous letter scene where Tatiana bursts into joy overnight while obsessing over Onegin.

I love this staging. Great artists is one thing, but the scenery and costumes is another thing. Fleming is very good, excellent Hvorostovsky. Colors in this production are wonderful. Beautiful green, red, browns and other pastels fall. In addition, these leaves. !! Something magical!

I've just listened to the whole of this opera. I mean, it's wonderful all the way through, but oh, the final scene, where she admits she still loves him but says it's too late, and he begs her, really begs her to run away with him, and the music goes nearly frantic and then... 'Goodbye for ever!' and she's gone and his whole world just crashes round him in ruins. Oh man! Oh Tchaikovsky!

@GreenBaldrick I'm afraid that I can't read russian, have no experience with russian literature, and was never educated at all about russian classics. I had to find the decent novels and poems of old by myself. Excuse my obvious ignorance, I was merely trying to be helpful. I promise never to do so again.
