I saw Hilton Ruiz at the St. Lucia Jazz Festival in 1994. I never heard of him prior to that and I never forgot him. I was so sad to hear about his death. I was able to tell him after the concert of all those performers that he was the best performer in my mind. He looked so shocked when I said that. He was humble and thanked me. The Jazz All Stars played with David Sanchez. They JAMMED playing conch shells and the lot. WOW!!!!
