Hi! I'm an intern at the Library of Congress and recently came across "Sappho", a five-step dance that was performed by "Jack Hylton and his famous band". According to a discography I read, "Sappho" was on the other side of "My Time Is Your Time." Is this true? Do you have any information about Sappho or five-steps? Thanks so much for your time!

I didn't realize this tune went back that far. I'm familiar with the Rudy Vallee recording of it.

To think i used to pass these early records by!!I love them now.Just before getting on here i gave a load of 78s including some like this away!!

I love Jack Hylton's early material on HMV and Zonophone. One of my favorites is ''Robinson crusoe's Isle''

Awesome tune, and of very high technical standard given the acoustical recording process!
The sound quality is exceptionally good for an 'Accoustic' recording.
Maybe it's because you were playing it on an accoustic Gramophone too.

Yes, thats what I think. The record dates from almost the exact year as the Gramophone with an 'Exhibition' sound box.

I have always loved early Hylton's and the like. This one fills me with memories, I was really big on pre-1930 when I bought this.
