This new video was shot by one of many Indonesian workers in Japan on March 11, 2011. When the tsunami was going up Oh-kawa (Oh River) in Kesennuma City of Miyagi Prefecture, he happened to be on a riverside hotel and witnessed this incredible tide.

  • This looks to me like the water's flowing back into the ocean after the tsunami had finally gone completely inland, and was now returning to its natural level. It's got so much debris in it that I think it's flowing back out. Plus, this view appears to be looking inland, with mountains in the background.

  • @hebneh It's no wonder that it looks to you like that, but the truth is the opposite. Please click the "Show more" link above and see the location of the hotel on Google Maps. After destroying the port area of Kesennuma, the tsunami poured the debris into this river and started ascending. Plus, as this city is located in a deep inlet, it's not unusual to see mountains over the mouth of the river.

  • Incredible. Thanks for posting.

  • Is there something wrong with you? You have given proper credit to your source and added interesting information. We don't like you're kind here on youtube!

Of course I'm kidding and I know how to spell "your". This place will drive you nuts. Thanks for your post.

  • Pretty good, seen better though.

  • @ugayatv This is the real power of nature man, pure awesome reality!

  • Is this real or just a nightmare?

  • Words can not really describe the power of nature that we see here and the destruction and devastation in can do in just moments. Japan is strong and I hope they are able to recover quickly and get the help that they need.

  • This disaster is one of the most harrowing and destructive things I've ever seen. Rest in piece whoever lost their life to this tsunami
