Did the Stones give attribution right from the beginning, or only later? When did they start and what caused the "change of heart" -- anybody know?

Of course this is THE business.
I'd add to the list of worthy alternatives, Eddie C. Campbell's version. Very lovely, including wonderful piano fade-out by Lafayette Leake. Check it out - you won't be disappointed.

I think this is the best. Cooke's is good, in a different rhythm, and the arrangement of the Stones - based on Wolf's - is better thanx to Jones' steel and Jagger's mouth harp finale. Unfortunately Jagger, but even Cooke, can't hold a candle to Wolf's vocals in this case. I don't think much of Big Mama Thornton version.

First heard this by the Stones back in the '60's. Thought it was hot stuff then but it's only a pale imitation of this original.
