  • This truck needs a serious motor.

  • @2253benjamin Yes! The big block fule injected 502 develops 425 ft-lbs at 800 RPM and 550 ft-lb at 3600 rpm. A good diesel would be twice that torque. But I opted for the gas motor due to weight distribution. When I tow my 13,000 pound boat I wish I had another 200 horses or so. One of these days a ROOTS type blower (develops boost at idle) is an item I want to add. I do love the diesels though. I have a 24 horse Yanmar on my John Deere. Love it.

  • What are the specs on that axle? Shafts look huge!, Is that a 1550 steering u-joint?

  • The axles on the FDS 75 are 1.75" dia. The u-joint in the steering part of the axle are much bigger than 1550s. They are a "wing bearing" type of u-joint and the Rockwell part # is CP58WB-DWT ($98 each!!). The u-joints in the driveshafts are 1710 series and take 3X the load of the 1550 series.

  • how heavy does a rockwell 2.5ton really weight? Great video you have here and very well explained in details. Keep up the great work.

  • Well, this is NOT a "military" 2.5 ton Rockwell. it is a slightly stronger commerciql version and has a standard Hypoid gear set instead of a "top loader" spiral bevel gear set like the military. This axles is rated for 7,500 pounds and weighs about 914 pounds. Thanks for the compliments.
