  • @robinbookerfilm Nah, he's a director for hire who doesn't even write his own scripts.

  • i love ridley scott his movies are unbelievable.

  • @NodrogTrax his artistic vision is part of him being an auteur along with his anti capitalism, liberalism, neoclassicism, his struggles between romantic idealism and rationalism ect.

  • @lebarosky Well, in that case, I would suggest you are misjudging the role of a director. In the case of Scott, his role has always been as a technical functionary. I am not suggesting he was a completely unskilled director, he just isn't any kind of auteur. An auteur makes work after work with consistent personal vision which cannot be manipulated or alloyed by outside influence. With Ridley, it's primarily the work of other craftspeople and artists who inform his vision. See: Blade Runner.

  • @NodrogTrax He really is an auteur by practically all standards

  • lol

0:40 Thanks for The Seventh Seal Homage :)

  • @Nodrog: "a filmmaker whose individual style and complete control over all elements of production give a film its personal and unique stamp." 30 seconds online def. of the word. What part of that am I misusing? I think he puts his stamp on his films, especially those like Blade Runner.

  • @lebarosky You are misusing the word auteur. Regardless of how you feel about his value as a director, he is most certainly not an auteur by any standards.

  • @randy95023 True, true : )
