@lebarosky Well, in that case, I would suggest you are misjudging the role of a director. In the case of Scott, his role has always been as a technical functionary. I am not suggesting he was a completely unskilled director, he just isn't any kind of auteur. An auteur makes work after work with consistent personal vision which cannot be manipulated or alloyed by outside influence. With Ridley, it's primarily the work of other craftspeople and artists who inform his vision. See: Blade Runner.
