A film documenting the faith of Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson, one of the most decorated soldiers/generals of the American Civil War. I pieced this together with clips from the movie "Gods & Generals" and the documentary on Jackson found on that DVD.

  • If he had not died, the South would have won...Grant was inferior to him. Slavery would have been abolished either way. The ignorant stereotyping in some of these comments is just sad.

  • @stellalouise1

It is "tradition" that U.S.A be "the land of the free" and that the C.S.A was evil and corrupt and that the people if not all evil they are country people wich makes them inferior in the eyes of for example people from New York!

That´s why the U.S.A were VERY quick at pointing fingers at the germans (even after WW1)

even considering what they did to native american nations they are STILL quick to point fingers at others!

  • The Southern reverence for its Civil War heroes is as ridiculous as if there were monuments to Hitler in Berlin today.

  • Then he was not as evil as I had thought, yet not a noble figure by perpetuating slavery

  • @oriolesfan61 He also established a bible school and taught slave children to READ in complete violation if a VA law

  • @AUG351 Rubbish. He held his hand up because of the pain from the hand wound throbbed constantly. He also had stomach ulcers, hardly imagined, and certain foods upset his stomach horribly. He was a "teetotaler" not because he thought alcohol was evil, he actually enjoyed all kinds of wines and liqours, but he was mostly afraid he would like them TOO much and become a drunkard. See Henry K. Douglas' book "I Rode with Stonewall", hardly anyone was closer to him during the conflict.

  • @artstudent07 GB was on both sides as GB was the country that gave birth to America

  • @MrProgressivelib1 Nice to hear someone who knows their stuff..

I find it interesting how Great Britain was on the confederate side. Thank god GB didnt join in..

  • One thing strange about Jackson not mentioned in the vid is he was sort of a Hypochondriac or health anxiety. He often felt "out of balance" and raised one arm to let the blood flow from one side to the other. He also felt most comfortable sitting strait up because he belived his organs were held naturaly. He also bathed and drank mineral waters and complained of different disorders he thought he had.

  • @oriolesfan61 he supported states rights. huge difference. Federalism is the reason we are the way we are right now.

  • You served so very gallantly;under the leadership of my distant cousin, Gen Robert E. Lee. God grant you respite on Canaan's shore, General.

  • But he supported slavery
