Do You Know The Facts? is an integrated marketing campaign to raise awareness about the business and environmental benefits of print as an effective marketing communications channel. The campaign aims to dispel the myths and misperceptions that paper and print marketing campaigns are harmful to the environment. Paper and print provide a sustainable means of communication and are an effective medium in a mutli-channel marketing campaign.

  • This video is a direct response to a campaign for responsible paper purchasing choices at WhatsInYourPaper (dot) com. Please get the other side of the story at WhatsinYourPaper (dot) com or view the video at secret-life (dot) org/paper.

No one denies that electronic communication and digital devices don't have environmental impacts we need to understand and reduce or eliminate, but that fact doesn't get paper manufacturers off the responsibility hook themselves. Paper choices matter.

  • @JoshuaRMartin We couldn't agree more- paper choices matter. Consideration should be given to sourcing - does it come from a well managed forest? If it's white paper - is ecf/pcf free? Carbon footprint - what good is a sheet with 100% PCW if its crosses an ocean and half the country to get to the printer? There's much to consider, but it behooves all of us in the industry to continue to strive for the best standards in environmentally responsible paper manufacturing.

  • I think the video is put together well; however, there are some facts that are compared that are apples and oranges. For example: at :59 in, it says that a average US data center consumes 24% more per year, while Pulp and Paper are down 42%. What unit of measurement are you using? Is it possible just growth and decline are responsible for the changes in consumption?

  • @flyingguak As demand for e-data grows, there's consequences. Each facility draws alot of power to run/cool the thousands of computers used to keep up with demand. While the paper industry has reduced its energy use substantially, mostly thru use of efficient technology and cogeneration systems. Almost 56% of fuel used to power the cogeneration equipment comes from renewable bio-mass. In addition, the industry has dramatically reduced emissions though production has increased due to demand

  • which program did you use to make this video, i'm looking for a program to make presentations like this..

  • I don't agree with these facts, specially with the social media dominating the internet ^_^

  • global warming is rubbish you forget that co2 is heavier than oxygen so it falls the the ground and its plants that eat co2 and the more they eat the bigger they get the bigger the more they can eat and the the rise in temperatures that they been monitoring cant be put down co2 as the climate has been fluctuating through out the history of the world i don't buy this shit its just another tax. and the people just fall for it like they fall for everything the government says

  • As a print designer, sustainability in the print industry is important. But this video is a greenwash, which is worse than doing nothing:

EPA: the domestic printing industry ranks fifth in volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) emissions among major industries. The automobile industry ranks sixth, behind printing.

Greenpeace: Moore "abruptly turned his back on the very issues he once passionately defended. He...has gone from defender of the planet to a paid representative of corporate polluters."

  • Print is a private conversation. You get the attention of your prospect

  • Awesome!
