Welcome back to the 3rd part of the series on how to make a tudor style building. In this episode we see how to add the timber beams to the frame we made in Part 2.

Its a relatively straight forward process and doesnt take too long - depending on the complexity of your design.

In the next part we see how to start adding the plaster effects to simulate the wattle and daub.

Cheers

  • You could even use thick cardboard for the framework. If you examine real mediaeval framework buildings you will see that the framework itself doesn't stick out but is flush with the walls. But I guess it is nice for model buildings to have it stick out a little more.

  • thick card works well and is in abundance. Any kind of packing box will be good. You'll see in the next part of this series how i fill the gaps with plaster so that the beams are only slightly protruding from the wood beams. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Cheers.

  • coffee stir sticks do the job too! they have the right size and you don't need to cut stripes - and hey! they're free ;)

  • Aye, they are a GREAT replacement. Anything that reduces the cost of construction is a bonus - the miniatures themselves are expensive enough!

  • great vid mate. keep them up

  • Cheers!
