This my favourite among her several attempts at Depuis le jour. Well-miked, her tone is at its solidest, she has an irresistible "entrain" (energy, momentum), a passion that is what this is all about. The climax at "je tremble" spilling onto a torrid, Wagnerian "délicieusement" is something!
Part of this is owing to the marvellous playing of Jean Dansereau, who gives her an erotic support the anæmic hotel-lobby group that accompanied her in 1926 could not even suggest!
Well it's 1927 and we've left the discoveries, tempo and key of 1912 behind. We are now more mature, faster and in the key of F, but certainly not perfunctory. Still a classic reading and required listening. The voice held up remarkably well considering the use she put it through.
