@redshift40 Yeah. My dad thought I moved telescope. Ugh.

@redshift40 same thing happens when you try & take long exposure photos of stars in the night sky, if its too long you get lines instead of a dot.

@Sowyet earth moving? "sun is moving but not earth."
really? the earth isnt rotating on its axis? its not revolving around the sun?

Hey, I just got my very first telescope. Its a Meade NG-70SM, with a 700mm optical length tube and a 70mm objective lens (sorry i'm sure their a better way of saying that). It came with two eye pieces, a 9mm and a 25mm. Anyways, I was wondering what magnification I need to get images like these. Thanks

@WprEmiere1985 - this was filmed with my lowest power EP - 30mm, that works out to around 75 times mag. Just Google "telescope magnification formula" to see what EP you would need. A 2X or 3X barlow may be all you need. That is a very small scope and is great for moon and planetary viewing. My scope is for deep sky objects only, they are not really comparable.

why telescope is moving?

@Sowyet - the earth is moving, not the scope.

Dumb question(s), how do you shoot the video, are you filming with the ZR-80, directly from the eyepiece lens? and Is the movement of the moon across the screen in real time? very cool video
