This report highlights the main findings of the recently released annual survey of the "Freedom House" on the condition of freedoms in the year 2010 in the countries around the world gouged by the level of political and civil liberties available to their citizens. The report elaborates on the significance of Freedom House's surveys,
released annually since 1972, for both the US government in terms of the weight given to their findings for making important
decisions such as eligibility for US aid and also for countries like Pakistan ranked in this survery. The bites of Assistant secretary of state for Human Rights Michael Posner, Human Rights Watch director Tom Malinowskey, Foreign Policy magazine's editor in chief Susan Glasser and those of the Director of Freedom House David Kramer have been included.
