In a world where computers are everywhere, those children who have had experience of them in primary school stand to go further in secondary school and in their future lives. A year ago Kasiisi Primary School were given a number of the XO Laptops for one of their classes. The laptops have been especially designed for use in education in the developing world being rugged, portable and easily adaptable for may applications. These laptops not only give the pupils a chance to learn how to use a laptop and the programs, but it is a valuable teaching aid for teachers who often struggle with classes of over 100 children.
One year on, the teachers review how much the pupils have developed and gained valuable skills through using the laptops. The school's attendance rates have soared and the enthusiasm for these classes shows how much the pupils enjoy the lessons. This invaluable project is giving the pupils a much higher level education and ensuring that they right skills to get them out of the trap of poverty and into a brighter future in the modern world.
