  • whats up man i just got a 92 s10 blazer and i have a few questions. any help is good help :) i changed the oil ass soon as i got it and noticed there was a hole with no bolt in it. its right behind the oil pan. now i dont know what its for but i found another bolt on the "case" on the right side( looking under from the front of the truck) so i took it out and picked up another 1 and pluged it up. but my question is what is thus "casing" and whats it for?! like i said any help is good help thanks

  • @staytruestayfit I'm not sure if I understand your question if you don't mind ask it again but maybe a little different or post a vid as a respones to this vid I just don't want to give anyone false info if I can help it thanks for the comment though

  • This was the most helpfull thing that I could find anywhere!! Its great because you make mistakes. I am havin this same problem and I almost broke that bolt yesterday! Now I no not only what To do I know what Not to do. Thank you soooo much.

  • @idylwild222 hey no prob. i think when people put up vidoe's on how to's they should also keep the how don'ts on there as well cause one's mistake could help someone else out so they don't make the same mistake.

  • thats a good idea for the trans pan gasket

  • Hey there, I am going to change out the filter in my 97 Blazer. Unfortunately, I can't change the oil; the transmission will kick the bucket if I do, so I have to use the same fluid that is already in there. Any idea on how I can do this without spilling any of the other liquid? Or does anyone know of any additives I can throw in there. The Blazer has 534k miles on it, and it's starting to shift really early into 3rd gear (around 25mph)

  • Sure wish I had found this video earlier. Got my 92 blazer just like yours all prepped for trans filter/fluid change...i made same first mistake of trying to remove without removing crossmember....grrr....that sucked....but eventually got it off without removing exhaust =P

Also bought the same as you, gallon of the Valvoline max life and a bottle of lucas oil, and ofcourse the filter.

Have brake cleaner sitting in the pan now to clean it out then ill head out and put back together.

  • Don't feel bad, I've change my trans oil 3 time on my 4x4 Tahoe and a friend ask me to do his 4x2 Tahoe. If I knew I had to drop the cross member, the price would have been 2x$40.

  • @novaboy74 I didn't get that either.

  • Not sure if its mentioned or not. You dont have to remove the crossmember, instead remove the bolts holding the trans mount to the crossmember and jack up the tail of the trans 2" and it'll just barely clear. but it works. Ive done it several times in my 4x4 91'

  • i got a 2002 blazer and just changed filter and fluid today and what i think they should hav done is put a drain plug on that pan so you dont make such a big mess. but chevrolets designers just like to make things complicated i guess, which is why i was thinkin about going up to detroit personally and kickin somebodys assss while i was changing this crap out.

  • @PAMAROSHOUSE the tourque converter uses the same fluid that you put in the trans so if you want to change all the fluidfrom the torque converter you have to get the system flushed via a trans flush machine that continuously pumps fluid through the system untill there is no longer any old fluid

  • need help how did you tap out the exaust studs did you take the tire off

  • i also liked your pan gasket tip.oh,and what of the torque converter fluid?

  • i also liked your pan gasket tip.
