The failure of the passenger side motor mount is common on 2000-2004 foci. My 2005 was vibrating a lot at idle, so I decided to check my mount. I used the engine hoist to take the motor weight off of the mount, and sure enough all of the vibrations in the cabin disappeared. I'm not sure if that test proves conclusively that the mount is bad, but in my case the mount was the problem. I assume this mount is original, and it lasted 65,000 miles.

Be safe when working on cars. Before starting this job, you should probably set the parking brake and disconnect the negative battery cable. Follow this video at your own risk.

Where did you get a replacement part? I'm having trouble locating one.

I got it from the Ford dealership, part number for an automatic is 5S4Z-6038-CB and for a manual it's 5S4Z-6038-BB.

Thanks man. I have an 05 Mazda 3 and just could not find a video on replacing the side motor mount. The layout of the 05 focus is very close to that of the mazda 3 and the passenger side motor mount looks exactly the same. Gonna try to replace it this weekend. I don't have a hoist and feel a little wary about putting the jack under the oil pan, is there another more solid point to put the jack? Again thanks for the video.

Yes the whole oil pan thing did make me a little nervous. Most people recommend putting a block of wood between the jack and the pan to better distribute the point force. You could look at using the jack and a long, thin block of wood to lift against the rim of the pan where it bolts to the engine. That sounds a little more precarious. Glad I could help.

thanks alot man.. really appreciated your video.. Spring break is this week and I'm planning to do a complete tune up on my focus.. I was going to use a jack to lift the engine, but I replaced the hydraulic fluid in my cherry picker.. so I can use the lifting eye.. =D

No problem. If you use the cherry picker, make sure you position it so that it doesn't apply any side force to the lifting eye (i.e. make sure it's lifting straight up). Otherwise, you may strip the threaded hole in the frame when you go to remove the last of the three bolts. Youtube doesn't give me enough space to explain why, but I'm speaking from experience, and if I ever did this again I would take extra care to position the cherry picker.

I just used this video to replace the mount in my 2004 Focus. Very helpful! Thank you! Like they mentioned, you can only buy the mount. You have to re-use the silver metal bracket. I had to pry the old mount off with a screw driver by bending the little prongs. I then put the new one on and used a hammer to carefully bend the prongs back like the old one had been. Fixed my problem for sure. Thanks again, saved me hundreds and a trip to teh mechanic

So this will also apply to the 2007? Looks a hell of a lot easier than I expected. I just got a 2007 Focus and have the same annoying cabin vibration.

Turns out my 2005 had 18mm bolts not 19 mm on the two large bolts, Just thought I would give a heads up....
