@furnicaticaloasa No... people tip us directly with cash or credit cards. We are responsible for reporting what we make in cash (cause they can't track it) and then our minimum wage of 2.80 per hour goes towards our employer making sure we're paying the taxes by having an actual paycheck to take it out of.

@zonetoful In this country servers are payed in tips and tips alone. If you don't want to tip, then don't go to a restaurant. And btw, high school students make the worlds worst servers.

@zonetoful I'm glad I can be the person you step on to make you feel better about your life. You talk about being an "actual productive member of society" so I wonder what it is you do? My job exists because people like being served. If they hated it so much, there wouldn't be millions of restaurants all over the world. Hourly wages (7.95 or 2.85) makes no make a difference when a shift depends on how many people are eating out. I could work 12 shifts in a week and not total 40 hours.

@Banryu95 yes people are too lazy to go get a fucking drink and their own fucking food, i guess that's why buffets never caught on...oh wait. And don't give us the 2.80 an hour bullshit, if you don't make over minimum wage from tips your employer is required by law to make up the difference from his own pocket. Your job is worthless, it's for high school kids who need to get their feet wet. Why don't you get a real job and start being an actual productive member of society.

im not american so i dont get it , how does the goverment tax the tips , dosent all the cash go in to a ,,jar'' and gets split even at the end of the day ?

As servers we aren't doing our job, we're doing YOUR JOB... You're tipping us because nobody else is paying us. If you don't want to tip, then get your own fucking refills and run your own fucking food. Don't go to a restaurant, go to McDonalds... We aren't paid "minimum wage" we're paid "Servers minimum wage" which is about $2.80 an hour, and after taxes, is about $1 an hour. You're tipping us because nobody else is paying us to deal with your lazy ass.
