A boy lives on the streets of Paris, with a dog, and his artist mother. Clown disappears one day, and a search ends in a misty-eyed reunion, and surprise.
It was imported and shown on PBS in the USA in the 1970s, often at the end of the day's broadcast.
I always thought it was in B&W, but now realize that was just our family TV.

  • Thanks for the upload! I remember seeing this as a kid in school. The story is very lovely, yet bittersweet. Hope more people come around to viewing it.
