I totally agree with this. We keep eliminating art programs because we think we need more time for math, science, etc. when really artistic methods will teach children so much more than an extra 10 minutes of math class will. Variety and the blending of multiple disciplines breeds faster learning. Musicians are often very mathematically minded, for example - the two complement one another. Great report.

I teach 2nd grade in a low income area of my district in San Diego. Art has taken such a back seat in our district and I literally got choked up by this report. How crucial Art is not only to development, but to the very essence of what it means to be human. May we all AT LEAST take an objective look at the evidence which "time and time again" proves the necessity of art in school. Thank you so much for this report.
