Where: Atlanta, Georgia on the steps of CNN.
When: July 4, 2004 after the Independence Day Parade.
Bands: The Baltimore Marching Revels Community Marching Band & the Atlanta Metro Band Camp Band.

Background: About 2 or 3 years ago I went to see the 4th of July parade in Atlanta. After the parade, I walked over to CNN. Outside CNN were two marching bands having an impromptu performance. Fortunately, I was right in the middle. I have had no prior band experience and never have been to competitions. I enjoy watching bands in person and on film. I don't think that most of the general public, including myself, can comprehend the amount of time that goes into the performances and being a band member. I know that teamwork and direction are the keys. It is amazing to see how each band has its own personality. I appreciate these bands for participating in the parade and I enjoyed their performance. My camera doesn't have the best sound, so I hope the video does justice to the marching band's performance. Please keep that in mind.

Thanks: These bands were having the time of their lives. The crowd really enjoyed. These kids deserve much credit for performing for two hours in the hot summer sun. I could not do it. It is all about having fun and that is what happened. Anyway, keep up the great work guys! I hope this is good exposure for your marching bands.

  • well i guess i understand your point

but when it comes to disipline and being clean and precise you have to admit that corps style wins that battle

now as far as entertainment goes, thats really apples and oranges because depending on what you're looking for each band excells in their own area

but I personally look for the corps style for entertainment

  • I could teach 100 1st graders to perform this NOISE (Not music) in just under a month! At least the 1st graders would do a better job of lining up and staying in a recognizable formation. What the heck are you guys playing at 8:44 ? (Insert Dogs howling at the moon here)

  • As the Current Drum Major for the Revels(the small band in this video) I think it's unfair to compare sound simply based on numbers, but for limited horns and instrumentation there is no way you can say there is NO sound.... @Eusi1984... ps we are slightly bigger and ALOT louder now, Come to Baltimore to see!

  • @Floontrumpet glaub mir.. da gibt es bessere ;) dieses is nur show und kein sound.

translation: belive me.. there are much better ones ;) this is just show and no sound.

  • omg do not put them in the category please but that small band did go off for real though. and corps style bands arent the best other styles produce great or even greater sounds so stop with the corps style please.

  • jusx horrible both bands..

  • it's so funny... Why we haven't got such great batlles in Germany???

  • @tdubasdfg Until you come into a band program that does both ;)
