This was part of my shopping trip to Narita International Airport on my own from downtown Tokyo. I took a Narita Express train from Narita Airport to Tokyo Station. I was heading to Akihabara for dinner with my family at that time, with a transfer to the JR Yamanote Line from the Narita Express at Tokyo Station.

For passengers coming in to Tokyo via Narita Airport, the best way to get to and from the airport is with JR East's Narita Express. The journey between the airport and Tokyo Station takes approximately an hour and you do not have to worry about road traffic congestion as it runs on high-speed rail. Alternatively, you can take the Keisei Skyliner, which takes you to Ueno in only 36 minutes at a speed of 160 km/h. Note that you cannot use the Keisei Skyliner or the Keisei Lines with your Japan Rail Pass.

If you are coming into Tokyo via Haneda Airport, the fastest and most scenic way to get to and from Haneda is with the Tokyo Monorail Haneda Line. Haneda Express trains whisk you between the airport and Hamamatsucho Station in approximately 20 minutes. Alternatively, you make take the Keihin Electric Express Railway to Shinagawa Station.

JR East owns a travel service center at Tokyo Monorail's Haneda Airport International Terminal Station. It is open from 11 o' clock in the morning until half-past six in the evening. If you have a Japan Rail Pass, you cannot use the Keikyu Line. However, you can use the Tokyo Monorail with your Japan Rail Pass.

If you arrive at Haneda or catch an early morning flight from Haneda, do note that there are no train services on both the monorail and the Keikyu Lines between midnight and 5 o' clock in the morning.
