Jimi Hendrix Experience's first, in 1964 (or 1965) live with "Curtis Knight and the Squires" .
He plays and sings "I'm a Man" (Mannish Boy) credited to Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters. As far away from the dazzling style of Hendrix 1966-70, this "I'm a Man" shows a fully mature and very personal guitar technique, besides being one of the few songs sung by Jimi with Curtis Knight and the Squires.

Jimi Hendrix pre-Experience, nel 1964 dal vivo con i "Squires" di Curtis Knight.
Suona e canta "I'm a man" (Mannish boy) accreditata a Bo Diddley e a Muddy Waters.

Well, many fanciful stories have been written about Jimi Hendrix. His art is unique and unmistakable music after 40 years after his death is incredibly present and alive, but magazines, radio and television repeating the stereotype of genius and profligacy. The myths are dying young, cursed and burned as James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Brian Jones, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Syd Vicious, Kurt Cobain ...
However, a lot of nonsense has been written about Jimi Hendrix. Council to read two books to understand the fundamental Jimi, his life and his art:
- Harry Shapiro & Caesar Glebbeek, "Electric Gypsy"
- David Henderson, "'Scuse Me While I Kiss the Sky: Jimi Hendrix: Voodoo Child"

  • Isn't this song written by Muddy Waters, not Bo Diddly?

  • @dyrkness This song, "Manish Boy" or "I'm a Man" is credited to Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters that are engraved in various versions. That Muddy is the most famous and is also the reference for the thousands who made the cover.

  • Too bad drugs took his life to soon.

  • @Gatorz1975 Jimi Hendrix did not use heroin. His death was a tragic accident.

  • @VeryMagnus I love Jimi Hendrix but his death was his own fault. He choked on his own vomit because he had drank and smoked far too much causing him to pass out, never to awaken again.

  • @MonsieurMoo8 My answer to you and to others. Contrary to what you say, Jimi Hendrix did not use heroin. He smoked hashish and marijuana that has never killed anyone. Jimi was full of life and new musical ideas that make us imagine what would have created. His death was a tragic accident caused by barbiturates and alcohol. Eric Burdon spoke of "accidental suicide."

  • 1964. The Stones had only released one album by this point. It is quote amazing how far ahead of his time this bloke really was.

  • "Mannish Boy" is often credited as Bo Diddley/Muddy Waters reimagining the song "Hoochie Coochie Man" which is in fact credited to his bassist, Willie Dixon.

  • @huaya12 where did you get that he was murdered? Unless you think his girlfriend Monika Danneman somehow forced him to ingest wine and pills without leaving any forensic evidence of a struggle....
